You Spin My Head Right Round

2010 January 10
by Rebeca

Man, you think you like a song until you hear one of your (kindergarten) students singing it. Just. Saying.

I didn’t post yesterday but frankly when All About Steve and Juno made me sob I figured it was best.

Anyway, my head is still spinning from some work-related news I got earlier.

Instead of being a Debbie Downer, I’ll share my plan for the week. It makes me happy. (Plus, I keep my “to make” recipes in a bookmark folder that’s getting way too large!)

Breakfasts – Mostly warm meals to encourage me out of bed and not to hit the snooze button, and maybe use the extra time for yoga

Lunches – I discovered this week that I do, in fact, enjoy leftovers if dinner itself was fabulous. I also discovered that the snacks I bring for the kids are really tempting and I need a lighter lunch to accommodate for my nibbles. I only plan my weekday lunches as the weekends tend to mean more of a brunch situation.

Dinners

Misc.

I added Smoothies and Juices to my plan as well. I’ll prep them in the evenings, make and pack them in the mornings.  I want to drink my juice during my classes AM snack time.  I often find myself taking bites of their snack which while healthy isn’t really something that I need. I think the juice will distract me and will provide me with some vital nutrients that my body so desperately needs. The smoothies are for the evenings. I’m not sure when I’ll end up drinking them although I imagine it will span a few hours. I know that the calories will help me keep my hand out of the snack bag and will help me cut back at dinner time.

Exercise

  • Walking
  • Yoga

Pretty simple but I realized that attempting a very strict workout schedule made me feel stifled. It made me feel obsessed and that’s not for me. So, for the next few weeks, I’m just going to walk. I plan to change before I leave work so that I can go straight to the gym from work and jump on the treadmill. I want to start gaining miles toward my 1000 for 2010, and it’s soothing enough that I can just grab a schoolbook or magazine and enjoy myself!

There are a lot of links here but I would find planning boring if I wasn’t trying new things! Feel free to send me any links of yummy eats you think I should try. I’m not picky. I just don’t like handling raw meat (which is why this is a meat free menu!).

Incidently, while Debbie Downer is a fabulous SNL character, nothing compares to Brian Fellows. Right!? “That goat is weird. It has devil eyes. That’s the biggest dog I’ve ever seen. Did you see that weird goat?… He had devil eyes.” Love.

Cried a little during Ghosts of Girlfriends Past and When In Vegas as well. Le sigh.

I like your planning ahead. I’m like that too.

I wanted to give you an idea for smoothies I did all last week that are about 170 calories:

In a blender/magic bullet, put 3 handfuls of fresh spinach, 1/2 cup orange juice, 2/3 cup frozen mango, and 2 carrots, chopped.

Mix it until its all smooth. Man its so good, you can’t taste the spinach and yet get a bunch of fruits and veggies all at once!

    Have a great week!
